Da Boyz Part 1

Now I give you Goberon, a spanner with a shoota:

Gorkamorka Ork Spanner

There are no real conversions on this model - the body is from the Ork Boyz sprue and the head is from the warbiker set.  He does have a plasticard wrench hanging from his belt, but it's not visible in this shot.

This is the first Grokkenstern model:

Gorkamorka Ork Boy

I didn't realize that the head had the metal plate bolted to it when I built him, but he did manage to get a head wound in his first game, so it was appropriate (though the Doc sawed his legs off and replaced them instead of trying to correct the head wound, so I ended up making another version of him with De-lux Kickin' Legs).

Finally, here is my first biker, Squiggenkrantz:

Gorkamorka Ork Warbiker

In our rules, 'Elmets work in almost the same way they do in Mordheim (1 toof, 5+ save to  downgrade what is basically a "stunned" result to "knocked-down"), and I usually give them to my bikers first - but it made sense to have at least one bare-headed biker for starting mobz.  I probably ought to magnetize his head so he can be both, but I'm a bit lazy.

That's all for today, Squiglets! Until next time...

Da Skwagmobile

Here's Da Dook's personal transport, Da Skwagmobile, a Forge World Big Trakk model (that was a nightmare to assemble, I might add).  I only made slight modifications to the original model to accommodate the Gorkamorka rules.  Because of the way fixed weapons work, the twin big shootas had to go; in their place I put a small plastic rod with a magnet in it so that I could swap-out the weapons it has (shown here with a rokkit launcha).  I also swapped the driver's head with one from the warbikers sprue and used rails from the trukk kit in lieu of the normal canopy.  I also put a small bit of plasticard across the gap in the back with magnets in it for the big grabba from the Battle Wagon kit or any other gubbinz I opt to make in the future.  Finally, I added magnets to the side panels for a pair of boosta rokkits made from bombs taken from the fighta-bomma kit.
The wrench you see sticking up is actually from a charm bracelet, and the idea was shamelessly pilfered from a friend of mine.

Forge World Big Trakk for Gorkamorka

Overall, I'm pretty pleased, though I do want to add a plate with Marvolork's crowned skull glyph covering the Imperial Eagle on the side and I need weather it.  Here's the logo on some custom dice I got from Chessex:

Da Dook uv Fort Skwag

Since it was first released many, many years ago, I've always wanted to play Games Workshop's classic Gorkamorka.  A year ago, I decided to remedy that and got friends together to do just that and celebrate my birthday at the same time.

I wasn't totally happy with the original rules and had a cunning plan in mind to introduce my friends to many of the Warhammer 40,000 rules through Gorkamorka, so I took a bunch of time to revise and rewrite the rules to better align to Seventh Edition 40k as well as Mordheim, a game with which the whole group was already familiar.  As we played, adjustments were made, and as we're getting ready to start our second campaign, I'm sure adjustments will continue to be made. When the rules stabilize a bit more, I'll be sure to make a pretty PDF and provide a link here.

I have plenty of models to share, but to start, here's the fearless leader of my mob:

Gorkamorka Ork Nob

Gorkamorka Ork Nob

His name is Marvolork, da Dook of Skwag.  His crown is actually made from bits of drinking straw and his cape is taken from the Chaos Terminator Lord kit.
Seeing the picture makes me want to do some touch-up work on him (especially on the splatters of yellow that were the result of frustratedly applying the 20th coat to try and get decent coverage), but I'm happy with him overall.

The rest of the mob will be coming soon!  While you wait, why not check-out the other Morker Mob in our campaign over at Das Nerdspiel?

Warhammer Age of Sigmar: About Face!

That's right; this post is about that game. The one that ruined everything, is childishly simple, and has all the terrible lore.  It...
